hi there. I am a new savage owner and my spur gear broke. I replaced it and the one I replaced it broke within 20 minutes of running. What am I doing wrong?

how did it break?
If the teeth stripped then the mesh was too loose. It should be a tight mesh but loose enough to run a strip of paper between the gears without tearing the paper. The strip of paper should be able to be easily to pull in and out of the gear mesh. If the thing just cracked then I have no clue what you did, I suggest getting a metal spur then. |

Hi there. My first gear melted so I bought a steel gear. It actually broke. I found out it was because I didn't replace the stock bell gear with a steel one. Things are working good now.
